When I first received the product I was like how and the world will this hard rock help my face but once I soaked it in water it soften up. The first day I just used the sponge by its self and my skin felt smoother so I decided to add my blackheads cleaning product and it also worked that way. Making my face feel so much smoother I will be ordering my mom one very soon. You can use this product up to 2 months before replacing(I believe that's what the package said)
